Around 300 families from two towns affected by tropical storm “Sendong” in Negros Oriental received emergency shelter assistance from the provincial government recently.
The families who came from the seven barangays in Bacong received a total P127,500 aid; while those from the 12 barangays in Valencia got P785,000, Danilo Mendez, provincial treasurer, said.
Families whose households were damaged received P2,500; and those whose homes were destroyed, P5,000, he added.
The cash distribution was the second to be conducted by the provincial government. The first had 600 recipients from Sibulan town, on April 19.
The LGU scheduled for the third round of cash aid is Dumaguete City, on May 2. (www.visayandailystar.com)
