A contestant from Dumaguete City, was chosen as one of the finalists of the Miss Philippines-Earth 2012 competition, where the winner will be known at the coronation night on May 27.
Glenna Christina Ortiz Duch, 18, who is taking up Business Management at Silliman University, said she felt blessed after being chosen as one of the finalists.
She admitted feeling the pressure of representing Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental, but said she is confident, that with the support and prayers of the Negrenses, she can present her best during the pageant.
Duch was crowned Miss Silliman 2009 when she was still in high school.
Gov. Roel Degamo, who received Duch and her training manager Dean David Ang, during a courtesy call on him recently, said Duch will automatically become ambassador for tourism and the environment in Negros Oriental.
She will help the province improve its tourism industry, he added.
Degamo and Dumaguete City Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria also promised to help with some of the expenses that incurred by Duch during the pageant.
