The growing local economy in Dumaguete City has attracted additional investors who are expected to set up in the city this year.
Dumaguete Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria revealed that an investor is expected to construct a high-end hotel with around 25 rooms in the city.
Another investor is eyeing to establish a retirement village in Dumaguete which will be marketed internationally, he said.
Aside from this, airline company Air Philippines will open in Dumaguete by the end of May with three flights daily, two of which are bound for Manila and one for Cebu.
Sagarbarria said he asked one of the investors why they chose Dumaguete. “Their response was that based on a survey their company conducted, our city is growing annually between 20 to 25 percent for the last two years. We are growing at that pace due to our dynamism.”
The mayor said investors are drawn to the city’s peaceful and clean environment and the robust economic climate.
“Dumaguete can now meet the needs of big investors. We have good hospitals, financial services, and the seat of the provincial government is here. We are doing everything to make Dumaguete the place to be for investors,” he said.
The mayor also revealed a P2.1-million investment to complete the construction of state-of-the-art toilets at the Dumaguete Public Market this year.
“Hopefully, we will start it mid-June this year and before the year ends, all the toilets in our public market will be state-of-the-art,” he said.
